Enforcement, Prohibition, Alteration Notices and Prosecutions

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service have a duty to enforce the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. If on an inspection our Fire Protection Officers (FPOs) are of the opinion that the law is not being met, and the premises are unsafe, action can be taken. This includes the formal action of issuing legal notices that require the responsible person to take actions in a specified time frame, to ensure that the premises is safe. The enforcement action can lead to potential prosecution.

These notices include:
– Enforcement Notice
– Prohibition Notice
– Alteration Notice

Publication of the required information regarding notices issued can be found on the national register hosted by the National Fire Chiefs Council.
