Fire Cadets is a nationally recognised youth programme delivered by Fire and Rescue Services across the UK, providing young people with opportunities to develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. Built around a consistent national framework, the programme combines practical fire service activities with personal development, teamwork, and community engagement.

The programme is delivered by trained Fire and Rescue Service staff and dedicated volunteers, who provide guidance, support, and positive role models for young people throughout their journey. Fire Cadets aims to inspire the next generation, promote safety awareness, and create positive pathways.

The Safety and welfare of our Cadets is a priority and as such Safeguarding arrangements are in place in line with NFRS policies and procedures, National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) guidance, UK Fire Cadets (UKFC) standards, and relevant safeguarding legislation. All staff and volunteers are recruited through safer recruitment processes, receive appropriate safeguarding training, and are subject to Enhanced DBS checks. NFRS also has Designated Safeguarding Leads in place to promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of Cadets. For further information please contact Firecadets@northantsfire.gov.uk
