Woman sadly dies in Northampton fire

A 58-year-old woman has died after a bungalow fire in Blackberry Lane, Northampton.

At 12.45am this morning (Tuesday, July 14), Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the address in Briar Hill after a neighbour reported hearing a smoke alarm and observed smoke coming from a nearby property.

Three fire appliances from Mereway, The Mounts and Moulton were mobilised and firefighters quickly rescued a 58-year-old woman from the bungalow.

Sadly, and despite the best efforts of firefighters and paramedics, she died at the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation but is not being treated as suspicious.
